Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!

I am very excited to be working with you and your child this year.
This year on my Blog, you will find information pertaining to your child's weekly Math and Science Homework.

I will also list our 5th grade activities as well as reminders for the school year. Please remember that your child should be writing in their agendas daily with all notes and homework assignments.

If your child has not brought in their school supplies, please do so as soon as possible. We will begin full instruction on Monday, August 27th. Students will need all their supplies to readily be prepared for classwork.

5th grade will complete our beginning of the year MAP testing on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th of this month. Please ensure your child is here on time for school and prepared for the day.

On Thursday August 30th, 5th grade teachers will be available for fellowship with you and your child at SkateLand from 6 to 8 pm. This is a great  get-to-know-you opportunity to meet with your child's teacher. Hope to see you all there!

Please have your child return all signed papers as soon as possible. If you have not signed your child's RUP, please do so. Students will not be allowed on their Chromebooks until this form has been signed.

Looking forward to a wonderful year with our new Learning Community!!

Science
This week in science we will continue our unit on Light and Sound.
Students will understand how sound can have different pitches
and volumes and plan and conduct scientific investigations to
test how different variables affect the properties of sound
(including pitch and volume). In class we will analyze and interpret
data from observations and measurements to describe how change
in vibration affects the pitch and volume of sound. Students will
continue to work in their Scientific Interactive Workbooks
to complete pages 8-17.
